How to Paint with Acrylic Paint: Acrylic Painting Techniques

Hi, I'm Linda. I created a company called Paint Along. Check us out at paintalongnyc.com. We have really fun painting workshops in Nashville and New York. How to Paint with Acrylic Paint: Acrylic Painting Techniques We're going to talk about some painting techniques. Let's start with putting our paint out on our palette. Basically, all you have to do is take your paint, squeeze it out of your bottle or your tube onto your palette. Separate the colors with a little bit of space so that you'll have room to blend in between your colors. I also like to set them out sort of like they appear on the color wheel. And just start with a small amount of paint, each color. The next thing we're going to talk about is how to load your brushes and how to apply the paint to the canvas. I'm going to start by using a 1/2 inch flat brush. These are great for mixing colors with. I'm going to take some of my red paint and blend it into my yellow paint to come up with an orange shade. Make sure that you get a quite a good amount of paint into your brush depending on the technique and the subject that your going to be working on. You simply take the brush and you press into the canvas. Going back and forth will spread the paint and it will also fill in all the little pieces and parts of the canvas. The next brush I'd like to demonstrate is the liner brush. This brush is used to get a lot of details in your subject. So you're just going to take your brush and you're going to load it up with the paint. If you use a very heavy pressure, it will give you a very wide line because the bristles splay out. If you use a very light pressure and stay on the tip of the brush, you'll get a very thin and delicate line. Another brush I'd like to tell you about is the 1 inch flat brush. This brush is good for covering large spaces. You can mix a little bit of water with your paint and your paint will go further. That way you can cover large areas very quickly. You can go to the store and get all types of easels. You can get standing easels. You can get table easels as well. I prefer to use a small table easel and these take up very little space. And I can take them with me anywhere I go. I also like to keep my palette very close to my painting. That way I can reach it very easily. I can replenish the colors anytime I want to. And those are just some basic techniques for setting up your workstation.

How to Comfort a Friend after a Breakup

  1. STEP 1

    Hug them

Hug your friend, rub their back, and touch their arm. Comfort them with small physical gestures that let them know you care and calm them.
  2. STEP 2

    Get them to vent

Help them let out all their feelings about the breakup by continuously asking them "what else?" Venting their feelings out loud will make the comforting process easier.
  3. Let them talk, but don't nag them if they don't feel like expressing their feelings at that moment.
  4. STEP 3

    Compliment

Compliment your friend. After the breakup, their self-esteem may be lower. Let them know they are funny, smart, and beautiful.
  5. STEP 4

    Give them hope

Give your friend hope that things will eventually get better. Their heart will heal and life will go on.
  6. STEP 5

    Keep them busy

Keep your friend busy. Take them to the movies, go shopping, or go out to dinner. Do all the fun activities you normally would in order to take their mind off of the breakup.
  7. STEP 6

    Give it time

Give your friend time to get over the breakup. You want them to be happy again, but you have to understand that even with you comforting them, it's going to take time for them to move on.
  8. According to a Gallup poll conducted in 2004, Americans said they have an average of 9 close friends.

How to Help Someone Who Has Been Poisoned

Steps

  1. Call 911 if the person you suspect has been poisoned is drowsy or unconscious, having difficulty breathing, or having seizures.
  2. STEP 1

    Know the signs

Know the signs of poisoning: burns or redness around the mouth; breath that smells like chemicals; burns, stains, and chemical odors on the person, their clothes, or their surroundings; empty medication bottles or scattered pills; vomiting; difficulty breathing; fatigue; and confusion.
  3. Do not induce vomiting unless your local poison control center or a medical doctor tells you to do so. It can do more harm than good.
  4. STEP 2

    Call the poison control center

If you suspect poisoning and the person is unconscious or having difficulty breathing, call 911 immediately. If they are awake and alert, call the American Association of Poison Control Centers at 800-222-1222. Follow their instructions.
  5. If household cleaners are involved, look at the product label. It will also have instructions for what to do if the contents have been ingested.
  6. STEP 3

    Get fresh air

If the person has been exposed to poisonous fumes or gases, get them into fresh air.
  7. STEP 4

    Protect eyes

Protect eyes that have been splashed with a chemical by immediately flooding them with lukewarm water for at least 15 minutes.
  8. Urge the victim to blink, but don't let them rub their eyes. Don't force their eyelids open when you are administering water.
  9. STEP 5

    Remove clothes

Remove clothes that have come in contact with poison and get the victim into a shower for at least 15 minutes to wash any chemicals off their body. Destroy the contaminated clothing so no one else is affected.
  10. 92.7 percent of all poison exposures occur in the home, with most involving everyday products like medicine, cleaning supplies, cosmetics, and personal care items.

How to Find out If He’s Ever Going to Marry You

  1. STEP 1

    Evaluate the relationship

Before you ask him where the relationship is headed, think about how he treats you. Are you a priority in his life? Does he make compromises for you? The occasional sacrifice? If the answers are “no,” ask yourself a question: Do you really want to marry this guy?
  2. STEP 2

    Consider length of courtship

Consider the length of your romance. If you’ve been dating for less than a year, consider putting off any talk of permanence until you’ve reached that milestone.
  3. STEP 3

    Pick a good time

If you decide it’s appropriate to ask him about the future, pick a time when he’s happy and relaxed, and you have his undivided attention.
  4. Sit next to him, not across from him. Research shows that men feel more comfortable in intimate conversation when they’re alongside their partner, rather than across from her.
  5. STEP 4

    Don’t whine

Make the conversation about your readiness, not his uncertainty. Tell him, “I’m ready to take this to the next level, and I was wondering how you felt.” Think of it as a fact-finding mission, not a debate.
  6. Whatever he says, don’t argue with him--at least not in this initial conversation.
  7. STEP 5

    Set a time limit

Didn’t get the go-ahead to pick out china patterns? Thank him for his honesty, set the topic aside, and suggest revisiting it in a few months. Then, set a deadline for yourself--how long you’re willing to wait. Thinking about a timeline now will help you cope if things do end.
  8. Avoid issuing an ultimatum. Even if he does what you want, he may resent feeling he’s being pushed into something.
  9. STEP 6

    Work on yourself

While you’re giving Mr. Wonderful some more time to make up his mind, keep busy. Work on making your life richer, with or without him.
  10. STEP 7

    Revisit the issue

When the deadline arises, raise the issue again. If he’s still undecided about your future, figure out whether you want to hang in there for a bit or cut your losses altogether. Good luck!
  11. On average, men propose two years, eleven months, and eight days after the first date, according to a survey.

How to Get Someone's Phone Number

  1. STEP 1

    Introduce yourself

Approach the person and introduce yourself. Don't bother with cheesy pickup lines—studies show a simple "Hi" works best.
  2. If the other person doesn't immediately offer his or her name, chances are the interest level is low.
  3. STEP 2

    Use name immediately

After you get the person's name, use it almost immediately. For example, "So, Jen, are you a coffee addict, too?" People love the sound of their own name.
  4. Try to slip in a little flattery. Compliment her name, an article of his clothing—just don't go overboard.
  5. STEP 3

    Ask questions

Once a conversation is underway, ask questions so you can do more listening than talking. When allowed to dominate a conversation, a person is more likely to rate the listener as highly interesting.
  6. Try to make the other person laugh. A good sense of humor is always high on the list of traits that singles seek.
  7. STEP 4

    Don't linger

Don't linger. After a few minutes, say that you have to rejoin your friends, get back to work, whatever. End the flirting before you run out of things to say.
  8. STEP 5

Say you'd love to see them again

Before walking away, tell the person you've enjoyed chatting and would love to see them again. Hopefully they'll offer their number.
  9. If you have business cards, pull one out and suggest that you trade.
  10. STEP 6

    Ask for phone number

If the other person doesn't get the hint, ask straight-up for their phone number. Now go think of what to say when you call!
  11. Research shows that men decide within the first 15 minutes of a date if they want to see the person again, while women take up to an hour.

How to Make a Romantic Dinner for 2 for Valentine's Day

  1. STEP 1

    Choose food for the menu

Set your menu for dinner. Traditional romantic fare includes rack of lamb for 2, filet mignon, and lobster. You can also cook your lover's favorites for dinner.
  2. It's tempting to serve rich food, but try to choose a menu that won't leave either of you feeling unpleasantly full or sluggish. Stay away from recipes that call for lots of butter, cheese, cream, or other rich ingredients.
  3. STEP 2

    Prep food ahead of time

Prepare as much of the dinner as you can the day before so that you only have to cook for a half hour at most on Valentine's Day.
  4. Invite your lover into the kitchen and cook together while drinking champagne.
  5. STEP 3

    Set the mood

Turn down the lights, and turn on romantic music. Decorate the table with candles and flowers to set the mood.
  6. Cuddle up on the couch with a romantic film and enjoy a dinner and a movie for Valentine's Day.
  7. STEP 4

    Start the meal

Start the meal by serving an appetizer like a soup, salad, shrimp, or mussels. Follow this with your main course.
  8. STEP 5

    Serve wine and the meal

Serve the main course with a bottle of wine. Search online for a wine that complements the meal.
  9. STEP 6

    End with dessert

Conclude the meal with a light, simple dessert. After a romantic meal, who knows what will happen next?
  10. According to a 2009 survey, 58 percent of American adults purchasing flowers on Valentine's Day are men.

How to Exercise For Better Sex

  1. STEP 1

    Go for short spurts

Lift your libido with short spurts of high intensity exercise, like sprinting or spinning for 10 minutes, which will increase your sex drive and give you energy.
  2. One study indicated that brisk walking helps prevent erectile dysfunction by improving circulation.
  3. STEP 2

    Loosen your hips

Loosen your hips with squats and lunges; they'll make your pelvis more flexible.
  4. STEP 3

    Do your Kegels

Strengthen your PC muscle -- the one you squeeze to interrupt urine flow -- with Kegel exercises: Just tighten, hold to the count of four, and release. Do a few whenever you have a couple of minutes, aiming for about 10 minutes a day.
  5. Men who do Kegels report harder and longer-lasting erections, while both sexes experience more intense orgasms.
  6. STEP 4

    Be a better missionary

Guys, keep yourself propped up longer when you're on top by doing this exercise: Get into push-up position on a slippery surface while wearing a pair of socks. With arms straight, push back as your feet slide and you are staring straight down at the space between your hands. Then slowly move your body forward so your feet slide back up, stopping when your stomach is over your hands. Do three sets of 20 reps.
  7. STEP 5

    Take up yoga

Try yoga. Some women who have taken it up report becoming aroused more easily and having better orgasms, and it serves as an effective treatment for premature ejaculation for some men. Plus, it improves flexibility, helping both sexes achieve a wider variety of positions.
  8. The bow pose, peacock pose, and shoulder stand are especially good for strengthening muscles around the pelvis.
  9. STEP 6

    Go swimming

Increase your sexual endurance by swimming for at least 30 minutes at a time, three times a week. In one study, swimmers in their 60s reported sex lives comparable to non-swimmers in their 40s. Talk about getting in the swim of things!
  10. A 10-year study found that men who had orgasms two or more times a week had a 50 percent lower risk of dying than those who had orgasms less frequently.

How to Decalcify Your Pineal Gland

These are just a few things you can do to decalcify & nourish your pineal gland. I recommend you make your own notes, research and come to your own consensus.

There are many things I did not include, such as barely (or not at all) watching TV, same with video games, not reading newspapers that are full of junk and propaganda.. but rather get your news from a source that focuses on TRUTH, solutions and actual intellectual content and educational info. The main focus in this video for de-calcification was regarding diet and things you chew or drink. Not things you do. So don't forget that! :) Eating right and not inducing/exposing yourself to toxins is huge... but there are many other aspects.

"Keep the pineal gland operating and you won't grow old -- you will always be young". — Edgar Cayce

In a distant past our pineal gland used to be our third eye and, even more than an eye: a cosmic receiver and sender of multi-dimensional information. The pineal gland is now a tiny gland in the centre of our brain, connected with all our senses and the rest of our body. Through the other senses it communicates with the outer world in electrical impulses.

With its spectrum of hormones it regulates our state of consciousness, e.g. waking, sleeping, dreaming, various meditative states including those states in which we may have mystical experiences. The mind and senses are paths for occult energies that work through various psychophysical centers or chakras, among the highest of which is the pineal gland. These centres continue to develop as we evolve towards spirit.

So, while the third eye or pineal gland has certain physiological activities in conjunction with the pituitary gland - together they regulate the rhythms of metabolism and growth - it is also the physical organ of intuition, inspiration, spiritual vision, and divine thought. The pituitary gland is the thought receiver and the pineal gland, often called our true master gland, is the thought transmitter.

The pineal gland is the very key to the highest and divinest consciousness in man - his omniscient, spiritual and all embracing mind. It is the Single Eye.

The more light you can store in your body, the higher your vibration will become. The higher your vibration is, the easier it becomes to elevate your surrounding as well as the people around you. Now is the time to reawaken our pineal gland as a cosmic antenna.

How to Prevent Foot Blisters

  1. Step 1

    Understand what causes blisters

Understand what causes blisters: Your body protects the skin from continuous rubbing by forming a protective pool of liquid to cushion tissue. Prevent friction, and you prevent blisters.

  2. Step 2

Don't rub your feet the wrong way

Wear properly fitting shoes that don't rub or pinch: You should be able to wriggle your toes comfortably, and your heels should fit securely. Avoid shoes made of non-breathable materials like plastic -- they cause sweating because they don't let your feet breathe. And beware of inside seams that might cause rubbing.

  3. Break in new shoes by wearing them for 30-minute increments for the first few days.

  4. Step 3

    Give your feet a lift

If you're prone to heel blisters, put heel lifts in your shoes. Wear them in both shoes, even if just one heel is sensitive. Insoles also can reduce blisters on heels, as well as on other parts of the foot.

  5. Step 4

    Use antiperspirant

Use antiperspirant -- on your feet. Preventing foot sweat reduces the friction that can cause blisters. Apply daily to clean, dry feet, making sure you cover the entire foot, including between the toes. If irritation develops, use it every other day instead.

  6. Step 5

    Wear the right socks

If you're playing sports or working out, wear nylon or nylon-cotton blend socks, and avoid 100 percent cotton. Nylon causes the least blistering on sweaty feet, while cotton causes the most. Make sure socks fit well, and stop wearing them when they lose their shape.

  7. Step 6

    Protect naked feet

If you're wearing sandals, apply an anti-blister foot lotion or stick to your entire foot; the lubrication protects your skin from friction. For added protection, put a piece of moleskin on blister-prone areas.

Did you know? As people age, their feet flatten, making them "grow" about a half-size every 10 years after age 40.

Hair Tutorials: How to Get Big Hair

My name is Jacqueline Bush and I am an editorial and celebrity hair stylist. My clientele has included Faith Hill, Mark Ruffalo, Terrence Howard, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jane Krakowski. I want to be able to show you that hair isn't as intimidating or as hard as you think it is and I want you to be able to have fun with it and do what your vision is with your hair.

I'm going to show you how to get big hair. So, the first thing I want to tell you is there is a couple of tools you can use based on what your hair type is and what you want. The first thing I would recommend , which I already showed you in How to use a Blow Dryer, is when you step out of the shower you put a little bit of product in your hair. You can use a volumizing mousse, you can use gel, you can just even use their volumizing sprays out there. For our model's particular hair texture she actually doesn't need that, she does get a lot of volume so I'm not using a volumizing spray. I did use a little bit of heat protector on her hair just because we are going to use heat on it to get the extra volume that we need. So, you're going to flip your head over, you're going to rough dry it until it's about 85 percent dry. Your blow dryer should be on hot, and you're just going to not worry whether the hair's getting frizzy or whatever, that's not the point. What this is doing this is giving it a lot of lift and volume and embracing its natural texture. You're going to do this until your hair is about 85 percent dry and when I'm in this position what I like to do is focus on the roots because the more, the drier you get your roots here that's going to give it that extra lift, like the building blocks for the start of giving it more volume. So, we're going to do that really quick and then I'll show you the next step.

Now I've blow dried Sibola's hair until about 85 percent dry. It's still a little damp, not too damp but a little bit because this is what's going to give us control for the next step. Now if you don't have time and you don't want to use a brush on your hair, I would just go ahead and blow dry the rest of this through, making sure you're focusing on the hair going in an upward direction because to get volume your hair needs to go up. If you blow dry downwards, your hair is going to go in a downwards direction. So, just think about gravity. So let's say you don't have time for a blow dryer, real quick I'll show you just keep rough drying your hair, focusing on getting the volume, quite large. You can even take some hair spray after it's dry, spray the hair a little bit, keep blow drying that will give it a little bit of extra hold or the other trick you can do, round brush. This is if you have time obviously. This kind of brush is a boar bristle brush and what it does it actually give more volume and lift to your hair. This is a brush created for volume. So, after your roots are mostly dry, your hair is in this state, what you can do is section by section (the way you'd measure that is measuring about the section of the brush, the smaller the section the more control you're going to have). Section by section focusing on blow drying the hair in the opposite direction it goes that's what's going to give you lift. For example, we have our model's hair here naturally it falls straight down, To give it extra volume and extra lift, what I'm going to do is I'm going to take that section and at the root of her hair I'm going to blow dry in the opposite direction, focusing on that root making sure it gets nice and dry and then as I dry the hair I'm going to kind of keep it there, blow
